The Preisthood is Amazing!

My Dad gave, my mom, sister, and I father's blessings. Before we started school again. I love them! I always feel this warmth whenever it's coming up! It's kind of the thought that my Heavenly Father is speaking through my earthly father, I don't know, It's just an amazing feeling!
But, of course before we were given Father's Blessings, we all sat down around my Dad's computer and watched a couple of church vidoes, about the preisthood, and personal righteousness.
I learned a couple of things. I learned the difference between Preisthood Authority, and Preisthood Power.

Pristhood Authority- You recive it by the laying on of hands, by others who have the Aunthority of the Preisthood already, and in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior. Preistood Authority, is the ability to lay your hands upon someones head, to pass the Sacrament, and to bless the Sacrament, etc.

Preisthood Power- Unlike Preishood Authority, Preisthood Power comes gradually through time. Through studying, praying, and acting. Preisthood Power, is more dependent on your Personal Righteousness, how well you obey the commandments, and if you continually have the spirit with you.

I know a home, is stronger, when the people in it, are intune with the Spirit, when they have that personal righteousness. I know the home is stronger, when the ultimate goal is the Savior. Last night we watched a video on Mary Feilding Smith. In the video it showed, how her home had a glow to it, a warmth. That was soely because she centered her home on the savior. And not only that, she taught her children, so that they could help center their home on the Savior. What a perfect example she is to all of us!!!
I encourage you all to center your home on the Savior, and to strive towards that Personal Righteousness!
The Preisthood is amazing, and we should all strive to have it in our homes. To have that direct power from God in our house. And we can all gain that personal righteousness, whoever we are. Belive me it's something we should all strive after!

Love, Rae

Kael woke up to the sound of his parents arguing in hushed tones, in the corner of his room. They were attempting to be quiet and to not wake him up but were doing it without success. Kael thought about going back to sleep but he couldn’t they were just too loud, he tried blocking out the sound but it was no use he was awake, so he decided to listen in. “He needs to run he needs to be safe!” his dad whispered urgently.

“What do they mean” thought Kael.

“How do we actually no he’s going to be safe?” replied his mom, her usual cheerful voice on the verge of tears. Kael had to resist the urge to get up and comfort his mom, her voice had sounded so sad and worried. But he stopped this was between his mom and dad. Suddenly he felt bad for ease dropping. You’re not ease dropping he told himself sternly. Kael was so busy arguing weather he was ease dropping or not he almost missed what his dad had said next.

“Well he’s definitely not going to be safe here.” His dad was worried too, it was not like his dad to show what he was feeling in what he said but just now he was like an open book. He was worried and scared. “you go with him too.”

”No, I am saying with you!” his mom said her voice was sharp and stern.

“But” said his dad
“I will stay with you” said his mom decidedly

“Fine, but He has to leave!” said his dad gesturing to were Kael lay

“Fine” said his mom her big brown eye’s welling with tears, “But you tell him, I’ll pack him a bag.” She sniffed and turned around and walked out the door.

Something was definitely wrong.

Kael’s dad, Brogan, walked over to were Kael lay wide awake trying to figure out what was going on. Kael could hear his dad walking over to his bed so he shut his eyes to pretend he was asleep. Kael’s dad sat down on the edge of Kael’s bed causing the bed to sag under his weight. It wasn’t that he was a ‘fat’ man he was just big and buff. Brogan held his hands together as if thinking something over and then said knowingly, “OK, I know you were listening, get up,”

Kael sat up feeling somewhat guilty at having listened in and then he reminded himself for the hundredth time he was not ease dropping, they were the ones who were in his room, therefore he could listen in. Kael abandoned those thoughts and ran his fingers through his almost black hair. His hair was a mess because of the night sleep. He ran his fingers through his hair again and said “Sorry I couldn’t help but listen,” he then added still feeling guilty “what’s going on?”

“We can’t talk now, you need to get up and get dressed,” his dad got up from the bed, causing the hay to spring up it made a sound of relief as it popped back up. His dad walked over to the door tripping on the desk that was placed precisely in the middle of the room, because Kael had insisted on putting there, for a reason nobody knew. When Kael’s dad got to the door he turned around and gave Kael what was meant to be as a reassuring smile, but made Kael feel even more worried. His dad turned around and left.

Kael wished he had said something more it was just that he was scared his mom and dad sounded so scared and worried that the feeling was somewhat contagious.

Only about one second after his dad had left his room and shut his door quietly behind him he could hear his mom arguing once again. Kael could only hear bits and pieces like “I’ll tell him” or “he won’t be safe” and then nothing. “Why are they arguing” He thought to himself. Kael got out of his bed sleepily and stumbled over to his window to see what time of day it was, he felt too sleepy for it to be the normal time for him to wake up. In the process of walking over to the window he tripped over his desk. When he got over to his window he pulled the curtains away revealing a pitch black sky “why am I supposed to get up now” said Kael grouchily looking around his dark and messy room. Kael walked over to his door making sure he wasn’t in the path that led to the center of his room, so he wouldn’t run into his desk again, and he lit a wax candle. When he lit it, it immediately cast shadows all around his room, but making it also considerably lighter. Kael waked over to his trunk that held the very few possessions he owned and opened it. Kael grabbed a pair of clothes to wear and also his comb so he could comb his tangled hair. He got dressed, brushed his hair quickly all the while wondering what was so important to wake him up in the middle of the night! He definitely needed to know what was going on! He looked over at his warm bed and had to resist the urge to crawl back into it. Instead he walked to the corner of the room to his chest and put his comb away.

Kael straightened his white shirt and tucked it in to his short brown pants. He then strode to his door tripping on the desk again; annoyed he kicked his desk sending sharp pain into his foot. He bit his lip at the pain, glared at the desk and then walked over to the door. When he got there he licked his fingers and put it on the light causing the light to extinguish and leave him in the dark. Kael opened his door letting in the light from the candles to come into his room. Kael gave one last look at his room and then left “I have got to clean that room!” thought Kael as he walked down the brightly lit hallway.

All along the hallway were candles. The hallway used to be dark and then his dad had slipped and broken his arm, so after that they always kept it lit.

Kael strode through the hallway and entered the kitchen. In their tiny kitchen he found his mom alone sitting at their small wooden table, silent tears running down her pale cheeks. “What’s wrong” asked Kael, as he walked in the kitchen.

Kael’s mom looked up and sniffed. She wiped her face and said “Oh, nothing, Dad would like to speak to you, he is in the living room.”

“Alright” he said, he wanted to say more but honestly he didn’t know what to say. So he just walked away. As he was making his way to the Living room, he thought about how surprising it was to see his mother crying like that. His mother was strong, he had only seen her cry twice before, She was going out to visit his Grandpa she had only been out about fifteen minutes when she came back tears in her eye’s calling for his dad, It turned out that his grandpa was dead. Kael was only eight then, it was a long time ago but he still remembered it.

Then there was the time when Kael’s 2 year old brother died, but he didn’t like thinking about that.

Kael walked into the living room, hoping to finally find some answers. He saw his dad sitting on a bench, he looked serious and he looked worried. He had a small brown, crinkled package in his hands. Kael stood there in the entry way for a moment and then entered. His dad looked up at Kael and then said in his deep voice “sit down son, I have a few things, I want to give you.”

Kael of course didn’t know what to say to that so he just stayed silent, walked over to the bench and plopped down next to his dad. Kael’s dad placed the package in his hands and then said “This used to belong to me; you can go ahead and open it.”

Kael began to open it; he put the brown wrapping aside and then took out what was inside. Inside was a brown waist coat it had buttons all along the rim with deep pockets on each side of the coat. “Thank you” said Kael he stood up and tried it on, it was a little bit big, but Kael loved it because it smelled of his dad.

“It used to be mine when I was just a little bit older than you. It can keep you warm; it’s a… pretty good coat.” He then added with a small laugh “You’re a bit smaller than I was at your age, but you’ll grow into it.” He smiled a sad smile and then put his head down.

“Thanks dad” Kael took off his coat, folded it up, sat and set it gently in his lap, “Its great but what.”

Kael’s dad interrupted him, his voice serious “Kael, we need you to go away for some time the village is not safe, trouble is coming, you are to go to your aunts, The village of straw”

“But” Kael began confused.

His dad put up his hand to quiet him. He looked as if he was considering something and then he said “There is one more thing I want to give you.” He pulled out a pocket knife from his belt and he began to explain “I got this pocket knife when I was your age it has been in our family for a long time. Keep it safe, and it will keep you safe in return.”

The pocket knife had sparkling, red diamonds, the (color of courage and strength, Kael’s favorite color) all along the hilt, with a sharp jagged edge. It was beautiful. Kael shook his head still concentrated with what his dad had said earlier “Thank you for all this” he set the pocket knife on top of the coat, “but I’m staying If trouble is coming I want to help defend our village. I grew up here it’s my home!”

“No” Kael’s said dad his eyes were sad and pleading “you will go to your aunt Ells. End of discussion.” His dad patted Kael on the leg and then got up and walked into the kitchen. Kael put the pocket knife and coat down on the bench, where his dad had been sitting and walked into the kitchen right after his dad. When he got to the kitchen Kael’s mom was sitting there with a pack, it looked like it was stuffed with tons of stuff. Kael was interrupted from his thoughts be the sound of his parents arguing once again. “You don’t just yell it at him!” said his mom her brow creasing

“I didn’t!” said his dad defensively

When his mom saw him enter she changed the subject saying “It doesn’t matter he is leaving, I checked the reading machine and they are close, they could be hear in one hour to thirty minutes, depends on how fast they are going.”

Kael walked up to his mom and dad, and said “What’s going on, whose coming? And why do I have to leave!” Kael new who was coming and he knew why his parents wanted him to leave.

Kael’s family had been rounding up their villagers and other villagers to rebel against the King. They had been part of this organization for a long time, Kael was used to men coming and talking to his mom and dad. He was supposed to go to his room during this time, but instead he found there conversations interesting. Some men would just go out the door telling his parents that they were fools and that they were crazy, some would see sense and say they would spread the word, others would just nod and leave politely. It was fun to guess how the man would react when his parents asked if they would join them in the rebellion. His parents were overly protective though. They wouldn’t let him be a part of it, they wanted him to be safe.

“We need you to leave only for a short while, it’s not safe and we need to get ready.” said mom.

Kael also knew what that meant, war. Sometimes he saw his dad training with men from there village. Some of them were younger than him. He had begged his dad for him to join but his dad had said no, as he said to anything that Kael asked that his father thought could be dangerous.

“Can’t I help you?” said Kael in exasperation Kael was sick of his parents treating him like a little kid, he was 12 for goodness sakes.

“I told you, No!” Kael’s Dad said clearly losing patience.

“But, you never let me do anything I want to do!” shouted Kael in agitation and anger.

“That’s enough!” his dad said his voice rising

“It’s not fair! I should be able to defend my village!” shouted Kael turning redder by the moment.

“Kael, I want you to be safe, please don’t argue with me!” said his dad, his voice softening. Kael’s dad was trying to keep his temper level.

“Fine, I won’t help” said Kael and he turned on his heel and ran to his room.

“Kael!” said his mom said here was no mistaking the worried tone in her voice.

He ran and got his chest and pushed it against the door, preventing his parents from entering. After he had blocked the door he ran to his bed dodging the desk and slumped down in his bed. He could hear his parents pounding on his door begging him to come out, but he ignored them.

He didn’t understand why he had to leave and why he couldn’t fight. It just wasn’t fair! So he was going to stay here until whatever they had to take care of was over.

*****

Kael fell asleep he didn’t remember when but he knew he had. He could hear his parents talking and then beating on his door once again. His mom was yelling at him to come out and his dad was threatening to nock down the door. Kael stared at his door defiantly “I am staying here, I want to help!” Kael sat there thinking defiant thoughts, and thinking about how he wanted to stay here and defend his village. After a while he heard screams from outside, and a gun shot. His parents started banging harder against his door and yelling for him to come out. He ran to the door and opened it. His mom said immediately “Run to your aunts, and hurry!”

“Why, I don’t want to leave!” he said still confused

“Please, go!” said his dad

His mom ran to the kitchen and gave him his leather bag that she packed, the coat his dad had given him and the knife.

When he and his parents reached the door Kael turned around tears streaming down his face “Be safe” Kael whispered, he somehow knew that he would never see them again.

“We can handle this” his dad said bravely “You’re the one who should be safe.” Kael’s dad was on the verge of crying but he stood his ground. His dad hugged him hard and then said “See you later.” A tear threatening to spill over his lashes

Kael turned to his mom who wasn’t making any effort to hold in her tears “Kael, you are… you have always been… “She stopped and let out a loud sob.

Kael hugged her hard and said “I Love You!”

His mom kept crying but through her tears she said “Kael, you are a wonderful young man! Remember who you are and always…” Her words were muffled by a loud gun shot and he never got to hear her next words because his dad was yelling at him to run as fast as he could without stopping, and his mom was crying harder and there was another gun shot.

As Kael was running out the door as he shouted in tears of confusion, love and worry “I LOVE YOU!”

”Too!” said his mom and dad at once.

“Now go” yelled his dad firmly.

All around him outside people were yelling they’re coming! People were in their pajamas carrying they’re weapons. As soon as Kael was a distance away from his house he looked back and saw that people were swarming his dad and his mom no doubt asking questions.

Kael looked up and saw that in the sky were huge black things that looked like birds, but much, much bigger. Then he saw a black ball falling fast towards him. He ran to the side to avoid getting hit and then saw that is was smoking, so he ran for it. He kept running. Kael ran to his favorite hiding place that was outside of the village. He liked it because he could still see his village from it if he positioned himself correctly.

He jumped in the bush and looked over at his village, he met his dad’s eye. His dad looked worried, he made a running motion with his fingers and that was the last thing Kael saw before his mom, dad and everything he knew blew up. It took a minute to process what had just happened, when he finally understood it. He screamed his voice echoed through the trees. He shut his eye’s not wanting to see any of it, not wanting to see everything he knew gone, lost forever. He didn’t believe it, “this is all just a dream” he thought “I will wake up in my bed, my mom and dad are still alive” but he knew it wasn’t true he knew that they were gone forever.

He began to cry, “NO” he scream “No, please no!” he put his heads in his hands “They’re gone” he thought “forever.” He then remembered something his dad had told him when his brother had died. He had been crying hard that day, mourning for his two year old brother. He had asked his dad if his brother was lost forever, and his dad had said “No son” he had taken his hand and put it on his heart “He is in here now” He had looked at his heart and new that he was in there, and that he would do anything not to loose him forever.

Kael looked down at his heart and put his hand on his heart, the tears were still coming down his cheeks “They are in here now.” He reassured himself, “they are in here.”
